SOLATRON A 2.3 for maximum energy yield SOLATRON is a complete system composed of components matched to each other. Thanks to full-area absorbers with selec- tive coating, the flat collectors generate high energy outputs. In the ”Lehnisdörfli” village, the SOLATRON solar plant (48 m2 total area) was installed on a flat roof in three rows and at an angle of 45 degrees in order to use the solar irradiation to optimum effect. From May to September, the energy used for heating the water is generated almost entirely from the sun. This preserves resources and reduces CO2 emissions quite considerably. Following a period of conside- ration, the decision fell in favour of a system comprising an oil heating system with an exhaust gas heat exchanger and a solar plant for heating water – and for ELCO, who provided a one-stop shop for all the components for the new system. The brief: an environmentally friendly system that saves energy, which has low running costs and which wins customers over with a reliable maintenance/service offer. The following com- ponents have been installed and commissioned: 1 heating centre ELCO LNO 400 (boiler rated output 250-372 kW), burner type ELCO 3.40L-ZOTA, two-stage, 1 external exhaust gas heat exchanger KPL AWT 500, 2 hot-water tanks (2,000 l capacity each) and 1 solar plant composed of SOLATRON A 2.3 flat collectors from ELCO for the water heating system (total area 48 m2 ). Modernisation: Residential complex ”Lehnisdörfli”, Widen The new ELCO system – a sensible and worthwhile investment The Lehnisweidstrasse estate, or ”Lehnisdörfli” village for short, was built in 1980. It is situated in a quiet, south-facing location and comprises a total of 50 residential units. These include 1 ½ to 4 ½ room apartments and terrace houses with 4 ½ and 5 ½ rooms (owner-occupied dwellings). The estate which, besides large playgrounds, also includes a swimming pool, has a pleasant layout and looks a little bit like a holiday resort. Around 120 persons currently live in the ”Lehnisdörfli” village.
