The starting-point Obsolete equipment, excessive energy consumption Originally there were three 4,000 kW high-pressure warm- water boilers with a flow temperature of 150° C installed in the hospital. The heating system was no longer technically up to date. This resulted in excessive energy consumption, excessive CO2 emission and excessive costs. A significant investment was required to install a modern, economical heating system that could demonstrably save energy costs. The solution was contracting. The heating contractor Cofely undertook the financing and the technical implementation of the new heating system. The costs of the financing were offset against the energy costs saved over the years. The new system Gas condensing boiler with high standard efficiency factor The ELCO heating concept offered convincing, modern tech- nology. One of the three former high-pressure water boilers was dismantled. In its place, two RENDAMAX 3410 gas con- densing boilers with a heating power of around 4 MWh were installed. The other two boilers will temporarily remain in place as a back-up. The RENDAMAX 3410 gas condensing boilers offer very high energetic performance. That means that, because of the high modulation, long burner times and significantly lower run-up emissions are achieved. The patented stainless-steel premix burner has remarkably low noise and pollution emissions and a high standard efficiency factor of 103%. There are also significant economical benefits arising from the wide modulation range of 470 kW to 3,860 kW. This permits considerable energy savings – and at the same time is easy on wear parts and reduces maintenance effort.
